Diaries kept by Staige D. Blackford, mostly typewritten, with some entries by hand, in small notebook binders, 1998 December 20 to 2001 March 28. Blackford discusses his reaction to current events, his health, and his friends. There are occasional reference to Virginia Quarterly Review business. With the diaries is an autobiography written by his father while on active service as commanding officer of the Eighth Evacuation Hospital in the form of a letter to his son. The collection also contains a biographical sketch of Blackford by Robert Brugger.
